It includes compressors, registers or filters. Even low refrigerant levels might be the issue. Without appropriate level of refrigerant, it becomes impossible to eliminate efficiently humidity and heat from the air.
Potential solutions:
- Check thermostat thoroughly and ensure if it is working normally.
- Also check the condenser to find out if there is any blockage or accumulation of dirt. Clean and remove the blockage. Airborne debris, grass or tall weeds might block the condenser.
- If ice is formed over the coils, then melt it by turning on the fan.

Causes:

- Check thermostat settings. Find out if it is not set to ‘heat’ or ‘off’ mode and should be on ‘cool’ mode.
- Check condensation overflow tray and remove excessive water. The tray may have a sensor to turn off the unit on collection of water.
- Check all switches present in the unit. They should be set in ‘on’ position. It also includes the external safety switch present close to the condensing unit.
- Ensure that the air handler’s blower door is properly closed.
